We monitor and report data on variables that serve as indicators for measuring wait times, procedure safety and effectiveness, clinical processes and patient outcomes.
Cardiac Services BC publishes information on procedure volumes, waitlists, and quality indicators in visual reporting tools called the CVI Source Dashboards. These dashboards are available to all regional health authority cardiac sites for system monitoring and quality improvement. If you are a medical provider or staff member at a regional health authority and you have questions about how to access the dashboards or how these data can be used, contact cvisource@phsa.ca.
CSBC supports health care providers, leaders, researchers and policymakers in their work to improve cardiovascular health. We are committed to providing access to data for public-interest research, surveillance, quality improvement and program evaluation.
We bring a health system perspective to our analytics partnerships. The data we offer research and quality improvement initiatives ensures that projects aim for data-driven health system change and clinical innovation.
All requests for data are managed in line with the requirements of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) of British Columbia, CSBC and PHSA data access policies and guidelines.
Please note that as the data steward, CSBC reserves the right to decide on the acceptability of data requests in its sole and absolute discretion. Requests for provincial data for research and quality improvement purposes are subject to review, approval and oversight by the CSBC Research and Analytics Committee.
The data application process depends on the type of data requested:
- Aggregate data requests for health system operations and quality improvement
- Row-level data for research and quality improvement
Aggregate data are typically used by regional health authorities for quality improvement, evaluation, or planning purposes. To make a request, contact csbcdatarequest@phsa.ca.
Row-level (record-level) CSBC data are typically used for research and quality improvement purposes when the requestor is conducting their own statistical analysis.
Most projects requiring row-level data need data from more than one linked administrative dataset. To make a request for row-level data from CSBC and other linked administrative datasets, such as cardiac procedure data linked to health outcomes data, use the Health Data Platform British Columbia (HDPBC).
To request row-level data from CSBC only, contact csbcdatarequest@phsa.ca with a description of your project and data needs. We will work with you to confirm availability of the data you are looking for and provide an application form. If you have any questions or concerns about your data request, please contact us at csbcdatarequest@phsa.ca.
